Summary:
At Centerspace, we believe that a primary function of Human Resources is to support our people and drive the culture. Because of this, we call our Human Resources department the Talent & Culture team. As such, you will see "Talent & Culture" used in place of "Human Resources" throughout this job description.
The Talent & Culture Intern will assist with a variety of Human Resource-related functions, including researching employment laws, managing job descriptions, and maintaining training materials. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain experience and understanding in the Human Resources field.
Responsibilities:
- Research state and local employment laws in states of operation.
- Consolidate state resources into one central location for ease of use for future law changes.
- Create a job description template and ensure all active job titles have a corresponding job description.
- Transfer existing job descriptions into new template and upload to corresponding job code in company HRIS (UKG)
- Use existing training and SOPs to create a consistent and user-friendly database.
- Job shadow with the different Talent & Culture functions (Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, and Business Partner) to gain an understanding of basic Human Resource functions such as payroll, benefits, recruiting & onboarding, and team member relations.
- Provide administrative support to the Talent & Culture department.
- Capstone Project: This intern is expected to build and present a Capstone Project at the end of their internship identifying a key challenge facing Centerspace’s Talent & Culture function(s) Presentation will include the current status and practices, the challenges resulting from current practices, and recommended practices to improve results.
Experience/Education:
Actively enrolled in an educational program directly related to the primary functions of Human Resources.
Salary Expectations: $20/hour
