This position will provide Human Systems Integration and Engineering (HSI&E) support to the System Analysis Branch (EV74) for spaceflight and related hardware development projects. The successful candidate will coordinate and interface with multiple engineering disciplines, system elements, and customers, as well as participate in reviews, meetings, working groups, task teams, and trade studies.

The candidate will provide leadership and support for the development of key HSI&E assessments and products. The candidate will provide and perform the following: Understand the tasks involved with manufacturing, assembly, transportation, and integration of the vehicle, elements, sub-elements, and components associated with spaceflight hardware design. Recommend effective and timely design solutions to mitigate Human Factors non-compliances to designers and engineers.

Perform worksite analysis using virtual assessment software such as Siemens Process Simulate Human (PSH) to evaluate hardware designs against human systems integration requirements. Perform physical assessments using physical mock-ups or models as appropriate. Document worksite and task analysis results in analysis/assessment reports.

Determine HSI&E requirements applicability for each task. Prepare HSI&E requirements documents as needed. Oversee the HSI&E effort performed by the prime contractors.Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace, Industrial, or Systems Engineering or a degree in a related technical discipline such as Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Design, Physics or Mathematics.

Typical educational requirements are the equivalent of a Bachelor's in Human System Integration with 5 years of relevant systems integration and/or project experience or a BS with at least 7 years of experience in systems engineering, requirements, development, and/or systems integration/operations. Aerospace and/or spaceflight experience is strongly preferred. The candidate is required to have: Experience with designing, planning, constructing, and using physical and/or virtual mock-ups, and flight hardware, to assess and analyze design concepts from a human integration engineering perspective.

A working knowledge of HSI&E data collection processes, analysis techniques, and software tools. Aerospace, military, or commercial Human Factors, design or test experience Ability to solve problems, think critically, and communicate effectively. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation techniques are required to provide appropriate design solutions for mitigating Human Factors deficiencies.

Familiarity with project management and Human Factors requirement development. Ability to break complex problems or issues into manageable pieces to facilitate resolution of technical concerns. Experience working with designers and analysts, interface control requirements, configuration documents, technical drawings, and other technical documentation.

An understanding of how requirements are verified and validated. Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Desired (presence of one or more of these qualifications will be used as discriminating factors in selecting applicants): An understanding of the NASA systems engineering processes and familiarity with the NASA Programs.

Experience with virtual or augmented reality use in Human Factors assessments. Experience using PSH, Jack, Delmia, or other virtual human modeling software. Experience with CAD software such as CREO, SolidEdge, or SolidWorks.

Experience/knowledge of NASA, MIL, or FAA Human Factors standards. Understanding of mechanical techniques and methods, for example, 3D printing, carpentry, CNC operation, or other similar fabrication techniques. Understanding of materials and processes Proof of U.S.
