Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Field Health and Safety Specialist to join our Sustainable Operations team in the Indianapolis, IN office.  This will be approximately 90% field work and 10% office work.  Projects will primarily consist of onsite safety support as it relates to construction, safety management systems and risk prevention. Candidates will have a minimum of 7 years of experience and possess the proper skill sets and training to complete the job.  Specific training will be provided by Arcadis.

Role accountabilities:

As a Health and Safety Specialist you will be involved with various full time assignments country to complete a variety of health and safety related assignments in support of ARCADIS projects throughout the U.S. Oversight of field crews during the performance of industrial construction, environmental investigations, remediation, and construction activities in accordance with OSHA, client and ARCADIS policies. Project will include, but are not limited to manufacturing plants, construction sites, industrial and commercial properties. You will be involved with the scope development during the preparation of high-quality project proposals, reports and deliverables; and coordinate and conduct the necessary review of project documents with in-house consultants, client representatives, contractors and others required to work as a team on the project.

  • Preparation of health and safety plans and other documentation. Participation in pre-job safety calls and daily health and safety meetings.
  • Use, calibrate and maintain various field safety instrumentation.
  • Perform worker and task observations to identify questionable behaviors. Work with team to develop appropriate solutions to mitigate site hazards.
  • Incident Reporting and Investigation.
  • Training and mentoring of contractors and junior staff.
  • Communication with property owners, clients, government agencies and subcontractors in support of project assignments.
  • Familiarity with preventing Serious Injury or Fatality (SIFs).
  • Oversight and planning of hazardous tasks.

Examples include, but are not limited to:  

  • Confined space entry, Crane and rigging operations, Demolition, Excavation, Scaffold erection, Fall protection, Emergency response, Electrical systems

In this role you must be willing to travel as needed (in-state and out of state) and will include overnight trips up to 90% travel. You must possess a valid driver license, be able to pass a medical exam, and be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. of equipment throughout an 8-hour shift.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental or Health and Safety related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum of 9 years of experience in the professional services or consulting business.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, OSHA 30 Hour Construction and Knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 and 1926.

The salary range for this position is $88580 - $132870.
