Hr/Payroll Assistant

Guardian Fleet Services Inc., a premier provider of towing, recovery, and specialized transportation services, is on the lookout for a dedicated HR/Payroll Assistant to join our award-winning team. With a rapidly expanding network of 20 terminals throughout Florida and additional terminals in Savannah, Georgia, Euless TX, and Lexington KY, we offer a dynamic work environment with abundant opportunities for professional growth. The HR/Payroll Assistant will play a crucial role in processing all aspects of payroll, maintaining the employee database, and providing support to the HR and accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of payroll and human resources practices, compliance protocols, and policies, and possess exceptional organizational and Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and process weekly payroll for multiple locations, ensuring compliance with state wage and labor laws.
• Perform data entry tasks and audit and create excel workbooks.
• Manage employee data for onboarding, offboarding, employee deductions, garnishments, wage rates, and transfers.
• Review time and attendance, commission PTO, bonuses, and approve payroll ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.
• Create on-demand reports and assist employees with HR and payroll-related questions.
• Provide training to other employees and managers throughout the company and support HR initiatives and projects.
• Assist with benefits, enrollments, and reconciling invoices.
• Advise managers and employees on employee relations issues and compliance.
• Stay updated on regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable HR compliance practices.
• Prepare and complete monthly reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Payroll and HR compliance.
• Knowledge of Payroll/HR policy, procedures, and programs, proficiency with Excel, Smart Sheet a plus.
• Experience with HRIS and Paycor Payroll a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team setting as well as individually.
• Ability to accurately generate reports and data as needed.
• Ability to travel if needed.
• Reliability, trustworthiness, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

Ability to clearly communicate both orally and in writing on a telephone and on a computer for extended periods. Routinely requires sitting at a desk and viewing a display screen for extended periods. Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer or other electronic device. Routinely requires moderate (up to 40 pounds) lifting and carrying. Routinely requires walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, stooping, reaching up, twisting, and bending. Good hearing and vision required.
