Nova-Tech Engineering is seeking a full-time HR Strategic Business Partnerresponsible for providing all human resource services including employee relations, performance management, compensation administration, benefits administration, and safety and employee services. About:

Nova-Tech Engineering was founded in 1992 and began as one person’s passion to benefit the agricultural industry.  Through innovative process automation technology, the company engineers and manufactures products that serve over 500 commercial poultry hatcheries in over 59 countries worldwide.  Headquartered in Willmar, MN, on the beautiful MinnWest Technology Campus, Nova-Tech Engineering employs over 250 people, including mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and agricultural engineering specialists.  Our engineers are exposed to a variety projects and work in small teams in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

HUMAN RESOURCES LEADERSHIP AND OVERSIGHT:

  • Operates as a leader within Nova-Tech Engineering, internal consultant and coach to leadership and team members in the development and implementation of highly effective human resource business policies, processes and employment practices.
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of the company’s strategic plan, including budget planning and management.
  • Ensures that human resource practices comply with federal and state laws.

TEAM MEMBER RELATIONS:

  • Facilitates the orientation and on-boarding of all new team members.
  • Trains Business Product Owners, Product Owners and Agile Coaches on team member relations policies and processes.
  • Works collaboratively with leadership, managers and staff to sustain strong work relationships, build morale, increase productivity, enhance engagement and preserve talent retention.
  • Facilitates proactive communications with team members to ensure awareness of important information.
  • Facilitates the implementation, follow-through and documentation of disciplinary action interventions.
  • Facilitates employee terminations. Prepares and submits related documentation and conducts exit interviews.

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT:

  • Ensures all team leaders are trained on the performance management process.
  • Facilitates company’s performance management process and ensures that leaders and team members are conforming to the process.
  • Facilitates the implementation of performance improvement plan interventions.
  • Facilitates all performance management recordkeeping processes.

COMPENSATION:

  • Participates in the development and maintenance of the company’s salary structure and related salary administration processes.
  • Conducts job analysis on representative jobs to determine appropriate placement of the jobs in the salary structure.
  • Ensures that leaders are trained on compensation policies, processes and administrative guidelines.
  • Reviews all proposed salary actions to ensure conformance with established guidelines policies to ensure internal equity.
  • Reviews proposals for new or revised classifications to determine appropriate salary grade assignment.

BENEFIT PLAN ADMINISTRATION:

  • Facilitates the administration of various employee benefit plans such as health, dental, life and disability, retirement, PTO (paid time off), leave of absence and non-cash benefit programs.
  • Facilitates the annual benefit open enrollment process for the assigned company.
  • Assists with the enrollment of new team members into established benefit plans, provides benefit orientation with new team members and assists with benefit-related questions.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT:

  • Conducts and/or facilitates the provision of required training programs to meet statutory requirements including annual harassment training, “Right – to - Know” training, etc.
  • Conducts training needs assessment with leaders and coordinates the development and implementation of training programs in response to identified needs in collaboration with Life-Science Innovations' Organization Development team.

SAFETY AND LOSS CONTROL:

  • Facilitates the administration of loss control and workers’ compensation processes and programs.
  • Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and assists in the preparation of material evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations.

The ideal candidate will have the following educational and experience background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or equivalent  SHRM Certification (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP), is preferred and if not already obtained, is expected within one-year of employment
  • A minimum of two to five years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Strong self-motivation, interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Sound judgement and decision making.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles and practices.
  • Ability to model core values as a representative of the company.
  • Ability to communicate openly and concisely with others.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees at all organizational levels. Ensures confidentiality with team members.
  • Must be well organized with extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to define issues, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Familiar with Agile Scrum Framework (preferred but not required.)
