The Department of Child Safety (DCS) is currently hiring an Employee Relations Manager to join our Human Resources team and be responsible for overseeing the agencies Employee Relations unit. The ER unit handles employee complaints, manages the progressive discipline process and facilitates coaching to agency management. The ER unit also investigates and resolves complex or critical employee relations issues. The ER unit manages and coordinates the FMLA and ADA processes for DCS.
- Manages the DCS ER unit providing direction and guidance, assigning tasks, prioritizing activities, setting unit goals, review reports and makes recommendations
- Provides guidance and recommendations to management/employees on confidential employee-related issues
- Responds to ER inquiries from employees and management providing information as requested
- Conducts confidential investigations as directed by the Chief of HR Officer or Director's Office
- Plans, develops and delivers various trainings on HR topics for managers and employees
- Develops, reviews, revises and implements department HR policies as directed by the Chief HR Officer
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge of:
- Federal and State laws related to HR administration and employee relations
- Arizona Revised Statues, Arizona Administrative Code, Personnel Rules, and agency policies and directives
- Department's mission, goals and functions
- Personal computers; Microsoft Office Suite
- Management and supervision techniques
Skill in:
- Verbal and written communication
- Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships

- Learn and apply Arizona Department of Administration's (ADOA) Personnel Rules
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources or related field
- Five (5) years of experience working in HR with at least two (2) years of experience in Employee Relations
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or equivalent certification
- Experience utilizing LEAN Principles
Requires the possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.
