THE WORK YOU WILL DO AND MANAGE
- HR Management: Act as a mentor to Recruitment Team staff by giving guidance, feedback, and support; motivate and coach direct reports to deliver positive results, focused on customer service to support the needs of the Foundation.
- Represent the Foundation by taking a visible position and develop a network of contacts with colleagues and in the wider HR profession.
- Manage a wide variety of professional/management level assignments in strategic support of the Human Resources Department and the organization.
- Recruitment: Manage the talent acquisition process, partnering with the Associate Director and CHRO to understand and execute the Foundation's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Compensation and Classification: Analyze trends in compensation and oversee requests for reclassification of positions.
- Performance Management and Employee Relations: Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations and take appropriate action on complaints of harassment, discrimination, policy violations, and unprofessional conduct.
- Partner with management and providing day-to-day support and guidance by offering an innovative approach to problem resolution.
- Compliance and Policy: recommend new approaches, develop and modify HR processes, policies, and procedures to increase continual improvement.
THE SKILLS WE NEED
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources management or related field or additional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
- Four years of related experience, two of which were in a progressively responsible supervisory or management role.
- Previous experience with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and employment law.
Preferred Qualifications and Special Skills
- Seven years of HR experience.
- Experience with HR and Talent Acquisition programs, systems, and processes (applicant tracking systems, recruiting, prescreening, and onboarding, etc.).
- Experience working in higher education or non-profit agency.
- Labor Relations experience.
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-SCP/SHRM-CP certification.
- Experience with Banner Human Resources by Ellucian, or a similarly complex Human Capital Management System (HCMS).
- Experience in higher education, research, or non-profit sectors.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of various software applications, particularly MS Word, Excel and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources and HR technology/HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
- Knowledge of technical HR expertise in the areas of change management, talent management, compensation, and employee relations.
- Knowledge of federal/state/local employment-related laws and regulation, labor laws applicable to Federal Contractors, and principles of equal employment opportunity.
- Ability to define problems, analyze and synthesize data, draw conclusions and develop solutions.
- Ability to use HR analytics and other relevant data to create reports.
- Ability to lead projects from initiation, planning, execution, and closure and effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, written and verbal, as well as excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to influence and negotiate with leaders and peers at all levels, while ensuring a collaborative relationship is maintained.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with co-workers, senior management, project staff, and PI’s.
- Ability to display organization and detail orientation, meet deadlines, and possess good judgment.
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of cross-cultural sensitivity.
