Job description

Housing Transition Assistant
JOB SUMMARY
The Housing Transition Assistant serves as an integral part of the Department of Student Housing and its ability to complete its mission. The role of Housing Transition Assistant is a part-time temporary position serving primarily to ensure that move-out for all ACHE students goes smoothly. Together, these staff member(s) will focus on supporting and engaging residents as they return and depart from campus at the start and end of each semester.
Generally, applicants will work no more than twenty (29) hours a week for 14 weeks (May 1 – July 31). The Housing Transition Assistant will report to the Housing and Asset Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attend all required meetings and training sessions associated with this position to ensure that we stay on task and meet our goal.
  • Assist office personnel with daily tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, and assisting with necessary paperwork.
  • Assist maintenance with nominal labor tasks, such as: changing out lightbulbs, installing new blinds, etc.
  • Assist with move in at check in site(s), crowd and traffic control, checking out of equipment, and/or other administrative customer service support.
  • Assist in the process of opening and closing of the facilities each day.
  • Assist third-party vendors with access to vacant units for required work.
  • Support and enforce the policies and procedures as outlined in the Student Handbook.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Asset Management and/or the Housing and Asset Manager.
  • Help students feel welcome as they come to campus to move-in to their new home.
  • Serve as a positive role model and resource to all residents during the move-in season.
  • Ensure the utmost respect and privacy of all information that you may have access to during this period of time and ensure that all information remains private, even after the position as concluded.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Experience in Property Management
  • Experience in minor maintenance repair and/or basic computer skills
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Professionalism in all communication and interaction.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy.
  • Prioritize and organize numerous and varied assignments.

  • Proficiency in computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Office.

  • May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies to include, but not limited to pens, pencils, calculators, computer keyboards, telephone, etc.
  • May be required to transport oneself to other campus offices, conference rooms, and on occasion, to off-campus sites to attend meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, etc.
  • May require travel or work away from campus.
  • Requires attendance at events representing ACHE both within as well as outside of the university setting.
  • Frequently required to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
  • Frequently required to see for purposes of reading matter.
  • Frequently required to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
  • Occasionally required to lift heavy items.
  • Frequently required to be out in the heat, as you go back and forth to complete certain tasks.
  • Frequently required to operate office and presentation equipment.
