Job description

Short Job Description:

Monitoring Clients, checking residents in and out of the shelter, promoting empowerment, encouraging and advocating for the resident, teaching housing skills, hygiene skills, and assisting with community resources.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Mental health experience preferred

Core Competencies:

  • Check residents in and out of shelter or other housing program.
  • Welcomes residents as they come into the shelter and provides orientation.
  • Assist residents with skills training activities (making bed, laundry, cleaning, etc.)
  • Accompany residents to other areas of the facility ensuring security of facility belongings.
  • Maintain hourly bed checks on during all shifts.
  • Follow chore lists to ensure that the facility is safe, clean, and orderly.
  • Document the residents’ progress and maintain clinical record in accordance with the all licensing and accreditation requirements and the residents’ individual housing and service plans.
  • Ensure that all of the residents are entered in HMIS, their charts are complete and up to date while in compliance with licensing or any other documentation requirements.
  • Handle resident complaints while on shift and report resolution to supervisor.
  • Assure that all reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner, i.e. vehicle log, vehicle maintenance log, time sheets, inventories, etc.
  • Maintain appropriate knowledge of behavioral health disorders, symptoms, treatments, and methods of coping with symptoms.
  • Maintain knowledge and documentation of each resident’s medical, social, and behavioral needs as well as services, medications, responses to services, and contact information for all treatment providers.
  • Complete daily checks of the premises and each resident’s room to ensure safety and security, to address any potential safety hazards such as debris, clutter, trip hazards, electrical/ fire hazards, and sanitary concerns.
  • Engage and assess clients’ barriers to housing and educated/ assist with available resources.
  • Coordinate with community resources and services that are on clients housing/ service plans.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $12.00 per hour

  • 10 hour shift
  • 12 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Holidays
  • Monday to Friday
  • Night shift
  • Weekends as needed

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Louisiana Driver's License or State ID (Preferred)
