Our client, Andrus-on Hudson, a well-respected, innovative organization, with a person-centered care culture, located in lower Westchester County in Hastings-on Hudson, NY, has engaged us to assist them in finding a full time Environmental Service Manager to join their team of dedicated and collaborative professionals.
The Environmental Services Manager, a key member of the leadership team at Andrus, provides overall responsibility and accountability for the supervision of the Housekeeping and Laundry departments, and maintaining the high standards and delivery of quality care and services Andrus on Hudson is renowned for.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Assume responsibility and accountability for supervising and directing the Housekeeping and Laundry functions
- Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and maintaining housekeeping and laundry services; coordinate services with other departments
- Ensure that the facility and department are maintained in a clean and safe manner
- Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining infection control, waste disposal and Universal Precautions policies and procedures to ensure that a sanitary environment is maintained at all times
- Ensure that aseptic and isolation techniques are followed by all housekeeping and laundry personnel understand and follow Universal Precautions
- Establish safety rules, fire and disaster procedures and departmental policies and procedures while performing daily tasks. Initiates and conducts ongoing quality control/ performance improvement program
- Plans work schedules and assigns hours and area of work to insure adequate service in all areas at appropriate times
- Conducts daily rounds of all areas in which assigned staff work. Issues work checklists/guidelist on a daily basis and reviews daily
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, counseling, disciplining and terminating housekeeping and laundry personnel
- Recommend, assist in ordering and purchasing equipment and supplies as necessary;
- Assist in developing and monitoring adequate and cost effective inventory control procedures
- Make periodic inspections of supplies and equipment to ensure that adequate levels are maintained and that equipment is available and working properly.
Position Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Flexible Schedule with the ability to work a varied schedule-including weekends as needed
- Prior experience in a nursing home/healthcare setting required
- Prior Supervisory/Management experience strongly preferred
- Prior experience with state survey process (DOH, JCAHO, etc)
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
