Description

Our Housekeeping Associates are responsible for helping to achieve ongoing guest satisfaction and team goals through the maintenance, upkeep and cleanliness of all guest rooms, guest corridors and public areas. The primary responsibility is to follow the plans under their supervisors direction, provide cleaning services in accordance with Health Department, hotel standards and our property standards, with the constant goal of exceeding our guests expectations. Must possess good communication skills, be responsive to guest needs, maintain uniform and behavior standards, and keep work areas, all equipment and guest areas in organized, clean, neat, visually appealing condition.

This position pays $18.00 per hour and is is based out of the Legacy International Resort Hotel and Spa in San Diego, CA. Must maintain confidentially and be able to work the assigned schedule.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains and services housekeeping equipment such as washers, dryers, room carts, vacuums as instructed by supervisor, following health and hotel standards.
  • Demonstrates attentiveness and responsiveness to guests needs, ensures follow-through and completion.
  • Demonstrates excellent guest and team member relations at all times, with all departments.
  • Demonstrates punctuality and excellent attendance in observing assigned work schedules.
  • Learns to assist in other hotel work areas as instructed by supervisor and within the skill and ability of this position.
  • Reports any maintenance needs to your supervisor to ensure that our facilities, furnishings and equipment are maintained in a "like new" condition.
  • Completes all assigned rooms and suites in allotted time while meeting our standards of cleanliness.
  • Replenishes storeroom supplies while maintaining shelf organization in the storerooms.
  • Removes trash and dirty linens from rooms and suites, and sweeps and vacuums floors.
  • Sweeps and vacuums rooms, hallways, stairwells and other public areas.
  • Performs spot cleaning of walls, carpets, light fixtures, etc.
  • Cleans furniture, elevators, glass, planters, etc., in public areas, such as hallways, lobby, pool and public restrooms.
  • Delivers special request items such as cribs, fridges or roll-away beds to guest rooms.
  • Picks up trash from parking lot, plaza, gardens and other areas of the campus.
  • Inspects dirty laundry for stains and tears before washing and drying; identifies and treats stains.
  • Folds all clean laundry and assists with linen inventory on a monthly basis as needed.
  • Stocks shelves and housekeeping carts with clean folded linens and other supplies.
  • Rotates linens in storerooms while also maintaining overall cleanliness of the laundry room.
  • Remove trash and dirty linens from room attendant carts and re-stock with supplies each shift.
  • Stores room attendant carts properly at the end of each shift.
  • Conducts minor dryer filter maintenance and machine inspections.
  • Certain uniform components are issued by the hotel. Hotel issued items should be worn only during hotel shifts. The uniform should be maintained in good condition following proper laundering and care instructions. For safety purposes, non-slip shoes are required.
  • Responds at all times, in a friendly helpful and courteous manner to guests, managers and fellow associates. Reports all guest issues and complaints in a timely manner to the manager on duty.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of all campus safety and security procedures, maintaining a secure and safe environment for employees and guests.
  • Report any unusual occurrences and/or requests in a timely manner to the manager on duty.
  • Participates in training and meetings to: enhance skills and knowledge to become a more productive and effective team member and cross train in other areas as needed.
  • Performs special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Our hotels primary goal is to provide hospitality and exceed guest expectations for levels of service, quality, consistency and attention to detail all team members are evaluated against this standard. A hotel operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. During the course of your scheduled shift, you may be asked to assist in areas of the hotel outside of your typical work areas.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is desired, but not essential.
  • Prior housekeeping experience preferred.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • No formal education required.
  • Prior housekeeping experience preferred.

 

COMPETENCIES:

  • Effectively communicate with hotel guests and clients, utilizing courtesy, tact and diplomacy.
  • Safely carry or transport equipment and supplies to and from work areas.
  • Follow directions accurately and efficiently.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Must maintain excellent customer service on a consistent basis.
  • Comprehend instructions and retain information.
  • Read, write and perform simple math calculations.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.
  • Ability to speak additional languages is a plus.

 

HOURS OF WORK:
Flexible schedule can varying from week to week; must be available to work on weekends and holidays.

A flexible schedule is required to adjust to changing needs of business operations and guest services.

 

TRAVEL:

No travel required for this position.
