Job Description:
The Housekeepers are responsible for all housekeeping duties to include: patient rooms and non-patient care areas, floor mopping, cleaning and utilizing necessary equipment, and other job duties as assigned per the needs of the department. Supports quality patient care services by maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe and orderly environment for health care providers as well as patients and visitors of all ages and developmental levels. This position also does residential cleaning in our nursing home and the Common's, independent and assisted living facility. Performs daily and discharge cleaning of isolation and non-isolation patient rooms. Changes bed linens and curtains, cleans and sanitizes all patient room/bathroom surfaces and objects including, but not limited to, furniture, floors, cabinets, equipment and bathroom fixtures. This is a day shift position with rotating weekends. Must pass a drug and alcohol test (marijuana is included in the panel, as well as other illegal substances).
Responsibilities
- Complete all required tasks for the proper cleaning of patient's rooms in a given wing, including... Emptying trash, dusting fixtures, furniture and walls. Moving furniture for the cleaning of floors, cleaning of bathrooms and its fixtures.
- Complete, according to schedule, tasks the cleaning of offices and lounges, ensuring that the areas are presentable for business.
- Observe all patients rights and their privacy. Knock on door before entering rooms, announcing "Housekeeping".
- Participate in regular in-service training and other Quality Improvement activities.
- Assist in the cleanup of special affairs, returning the room to its normal state through the moving of chairs, trash removal, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or the equivalent is preferred.
- Ability to follow written, or oral instructions is required.
- Ability to perform operations with units of measurement (cups, inches, pounds, etc.) is required.
- Ability to read and hear instructions is required.
- Must pass a Federal and State background check
- Must pass a drug and alcohol test (marijuana is a drug we test for, as well as other illegal substances).
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or control; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear and smell.
- The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Walk or stand throughout the work shift. Be able to reach and grasp objects.
