Job Summary
The EVS Specialist cleans and services wards, rooms, baths, laboratories, and offices; cleans, mops, dust furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion; scours and polishes showers, tubs, sinks, mirrors, and similar equipment; replenishes supplies, clean windows, keeps utility storage rooms in order by cleaning lockers and equipment, arranging supplies and sweeping and mopping floors; working with laundry, such as putting it in laundry rooms and stocking carts, and perform a variety of other related duties.
Essential Functions
A. The EVS Specialist is responsible for cleaning and servicing all internal aspects of the facility building;
B. Must be willing to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis and perform tasks despite frequent interruptions;
C. Knows and respects the rights of patients;
D. Promotes sanitary conditions to prevent the spread of infection and odors;
E. Follows the required procedures for handling, cleaning, and/or disposing of materials that may be comprised by blood, infectious materials or bodily fluids;
F. Complies with all regulations for handling cleaning solvents and chemicals in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and organizational policy/procedure;
G. Reports any needed repairs immediately to maintenance by completing a repair sheet, such as, but not limited to:
Leaking faucets or toilets;
Loose tile;
Broken windows;
Missing nuts and screws;
Loose outlets, frayed cords, or other electrical hazards;
Beds requiring repair.
H. Keeps director updated of any repair issues
I. Follows safety precautions in all housekeeping services.
J. Assures that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.
K. Regular attendance at the assigned work location is an essential function of the job.
Qualifications
A. High school education or equivalent preferred.
B. The EVS Specialist must have the ability to read and write and follow simple written and oral instructions.
C. Cleaning experience is desirable, but not essential. Worker can reach full productivity after a brief on the job training.
D. Must know how to use common house cleaning devices, such as brooms, mops, scouring pads, etc. to keep areas clean and well serviced. Must know how to care for equipment, how to measure cleaning solutions and show awareness to hazards.
E. Upon completion of six (6) months of employment at PMC, the EVS Specialist will be eligible to achieve an additional qualification as a Certified Environmental Services Technician (CEST) through the Academy of Cleaning Excellence (ACE). This certification must be completed within six months of becoming eligible. The EVS Specialist must complete two hours of continuing education each year after earning the certification.
