Position Description
Position Title: Housekeeper
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Housekeeping/Laundry Director
General Description
The housekeeper is responsible to see that all areas are clean, sanitary, and orderly and restock supplies.
HOURS OF WORK:
- Housekeeping | Part-time, 4pm-8pm, Wednesdays, no weekends, and optional Saturday evening.
Personal Characteristics
Must enjoy working with people especially older adult population.
Must have patience and a good work ethic.
Must comply with the community Dress Code standard.
Maintains confidentiality of all resident information. Observes residents rights
Job Responsibilities, Duties and Authority
- Duties include, but are not limited to: sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning furniture, equipment, trash cans, windows, mirrors, toilets. Emptying wastebaskets and taking trash to dumpster. Restocking resident rooms, public restrooms and ancillary rooms with paper towels, toilet paper and soap. Restocking and keeping storage room clean and orderly.
- Perform all assigned duties in accordance with established policies and procedures, safety rules and regulations.
- Adheres to sanitary, safety and infection control procedures for cleaning, storage and handling of materials and equipment.
- Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis.
- Gives on the job training for new staff members.
- Maintains confidentiality of all residents
- Observes resident’s rights
- Performs other and related duties as assigned
- Attends in-services and department meetings
- Work in cooperation between other departments
Working Conditions
Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
Is subject to frequent interruptions.
Is involved with personnel, residents, families and other visitors under all conditions and circumstances.
Is subject to anxious and emotionally upset residents and families.
May work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, temporarily in staff emergencies and to ensure proper care for all residents.
Minimum Training, Experience and Certification Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written directions
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to be flexible
- Excellent customer service and people skills, demonstrate compassion, patience and understanding with a willingness to do whatever it takes to provide the highest level of service
- Completes assignments on time and to the satisfaction of the customer
- Maintain confidentiality of information and conversations
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the job
- Able to maintain good working relationships with other personnel
- No certification required
