Job Summary and Qualifications

The RN House Supervisor provides technical direction and administrative supervision for delivery of nursing and patient care services on assigned shift hospital-wide. Identifies and works with situations and problems associated with delivery of patient services, personnel management, and policy and procedure enforcement. Performs the central authority role in absence of Management or Administrative Team.

What will you do in this role:
  • Provides technical direction and administrative supervision for delivery of nursing and patient care services on assigned shift hospital-wide.
  • Identifies and works with situations and problems associated with delivery of patient services, personnel management, and policy and procedure enforcement.
  • Performs the central authority role in absence of Management or Administrative Team.
  • Assess staffing and utilization of staff based on census, patient ratio and acuity. Directs modifications in delivery of care and unit assignments of available staff.
  • Works cooperatively with Managers, Bed Management, Directors, and Administration in reviewing staffing
  • Identifies problems and needs in areas of personnel management, physician-nurse relations, inter/intra- departmental relations and implements plan for appropriate solutions keeping Manager or Director informed of any issues/concerns
  • Maximizes use of resource and expertise of individual employees, physicians and other resources
  • Communicates disciplinary problems to appropriate Managers in a timely manner. In absence of Manager, contacts Director or Administration
  • Collects and forwards the correct house census to the Accounting Department, Corporate Office
  • Provides leadership during fire alarms, disaster drills, hospital codes. etc
  • Provides central authority and is the ultimate decision-maker for off-shift and weekend coverage
  • Performs efficiently with Meditech/Facility Scheduler/Outlook and HPF. Maintains ongoing training and proficiency with these programs

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an approved and accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred
  • Must hold a current R.N. license to practice in the State of Indiana
  • Must hold and maintain current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications throughout employment with Terre Haute Regional Hospital
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of management principles
  • Technically competent in delivery of nursing care
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) training completion within 1 year of hire and maintenance of certification.
  • Has at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experiences in Nursing
