Qualifications
- Bilingual proficiency is required.
- Must demonstrate the ability to communicate and actively engage stakeholders in a manner that promotes communication between all stakeholders.
- Must possess skills in collaboration.
- Must be willing to increase professional knowledge and skills through applicable trainings, possibly occurring during off-contract hours.
Accountable To: Supervisor of Special Programs
Essential Functions
- Interpreting for parent conferences and phone calls.
- Translating documents, letters, flyers, etc., as needed to communicate with parents.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Attend and participate in meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain acceptable attendance and be punctual.
- Maintain a safe working condition and safely operate electronic and other equipment needed to carry out job functions and responsibilities.
- Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend required meetings.
- Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and or outside agencies associated with the school.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting and kneeling.
Limits to Authority: The Hourly Interpreter/Translator will maintain a collegial relationship with all stakeholders for the purpose of improving communication to support student achievement. The interpreter/Translator will have no supervisory or evaluative authority.
Not eligible for benefits. Will work on an as needed basis.
