Location: Cherokee County Health Dept. - Canton, Ga
WIC Dept. (Max.29 hrs./wk.) Under immediate to general supervision, provides limited paraprofessional social services to client and their families.
- Provides individual breastfeeding education in the WIV Clinic.
- Provides on-going breastfeeding education and/or counseling to WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers by telephone, home visits, and/or hospital visits at scheduled intervals as determined by the WIC program.
- Gives basic breastfeeding, information and support to new mothers, including education on the benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers to breastfeeding, and how to start breastfeeding successfully.
- Uses proper and consistent documentation for Peer Counselor contacts in Peer Counselor data base and GA-WIC system.
- Attends and participates in scheduled staff meeting and breastfeeding conferences/workshops as appropriate.
- Must be a current or former WIC participant who has exclusively breastfed at least on child a minimum of 6 months.
- Enthusiastic about breastfeeding and have a strong desire to help mothers enjoy a positive breastfeeding experience.
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to take phone calls at home.
- Must be able to assist moms with breastfeeding in assigned WIC Clinic.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
Primarily sedentary, light physical work with limited to no unusual conditions. Indicate if occasional lifting of 45IBs. Or more.

CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.
