Job description

Commerce Casino is the world’s largest card casino offering more than 200 tables. Monitor hotel revenues and expenses and ensure the accurate recording in accordance with Commerce Casino & Hotel established guidelines.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Ensure hotels’ compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes. Provide assistance to management in enforcing compliance on all these items
2. Ensure that all balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations are reconciled on a timely basis.
3. Ensure and monitor that the hotel is in compliance with all report deadlines and due dates and reacts accordingly
4. Pay all hotel invoices in a timely manner- ensuring accuracy of amount paid, account coding, invoice extension and that all discounts are taken. Handle all vendor inquiries and reconcile vendor statements.
5. Verify that purchasing procedures are followed, i.e.: purchase order price compared to invoice price, purchase order quantity compared to invoice quantity, ensure that the purchase order number is valid. Maintain an accurate, up to date Purchase Order Log Sort and verify accuracy of Night Audit work (primarily receivables aspect), i.e. including reconciliation of banquet check extensions, coding of banquets at cost, review and route sales and promotion checks with back-up. Record department administration phone calls and inform Controller of any potential concern.
6. Post city ledger payments in property management system, reconcile and bill all city ledger accounts. Perform follow-up billing and credit collection documentation and inform Controller of any potential uncollectible accounts.
7. Reconcile credit card back-up to General Cashier Summary and inform Controller of any discrepancies. Bill out credit cards (AMEX, DINERS, etc.). Maintain accurate and legible logs for all credit cards.
8. Set up new accounts in accordance with established credit policy.
9. Assist in reconciling open account status items.
10. Input General Cashier Summary and maintain binder.
11. File and distribute credit card cancellations, bulletins and credit warnings. Process and follow-up on all returned checks accepted as cash payment. Record General Ledger and City Ledger reconciliations.
12. Perform internal audit functions as assigned.
13. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
14. Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Work Experience Required:

  • 8-10 years in Accounting or in a related field preferred.
Education:
  • College Degree preferred

  • Must have the ability to communicate in English.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Can communicate well with guests.
  • Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics and calculator skills to prepare mathematical calculations without error.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in order to interact with vendors and department heads.
  • Must be able to navigate excel and create spreadsheets when needed

Every associate should adhere to the hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.
