Job Description:

We are looking for uniquely talented engineers to champion our key transformation shifts, identify new ways to improve Structural engineering, and advance the design of the next generation military and commercial combustors, diffusers, turbines, exhausts, and nozzles.  Pratt & Whitney's Hot Section Engineering (HSE) team is seeking an experienced, creative, and highly motivated Structures engineer to analyze and design the next generation of “Dependable Engines.”

Key Responsibilities:

The Structures engineer will utilize state of the art analytical methods to validate the structural integrity of Hot Section static (cases and frames) and / or rotating hardware (disks and blades). 

The engineer will be part of a component integrated product team with responsibilities for executing FEMs, performing lifing analyses and writing technical reports. 

Communicating technical progress and status to various program groups, senior management, as well as internal / external customers.

Basic Qualifications:

• BS Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

• 5+ years of engineering or aerospace experience, or 3+ years with an advance degree

• Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced proficiency with ANSYS APDL and / or Workbench.

• Advanced knowledge of LCF, TMF, HCF & FM failure modes.

• Familiarity with P&W Structures tools and procedures.

• Demonstrated leadership in engineering continuous improvement.

• Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.

• An active security clearance

• Ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams.

• Diverse Structures experience including analytical methods (FEA), hand calculations, and spreadsheet methods.

• Experience analyzing strength, stress, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
