Smith’s Waco Market can be a fast-paced environment with something different every day. We are currently looking for a friendly, fast-paced, multi-tasking leader to assist our current team.
Our customers create the path for the day which leads us to tasks such as providing fast and friendly service to fasted paced food preparation. We look for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy problem-solving in what can sometimes be a challenging environment.
As with any retail store, you must execute as a team in all aspects of store operations. To be successful, you need energy, an excellent work ethic, a great attitude, and a smile.
Responsibilities:
Promoting excellent service with an attitude of running your department as if it were your own business.
Understanding daily sales and expense information and developing plans to maximize sales and net profits with the help of the department manager.
Support department management with employees, ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, and staffing as needed.
Maintaining a clean and pleasant store environment.
Ensure that the store is appropriately staffed and effectively opened and closed each day.
Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps for appropriate solutions and/or counseling, up to and including termination.
Providing prompt and courteous customer service.
Ensure that all merchandise is presented professionally; utilize merchandise fixtures properly including presentation, product pricing, and signage.
Maintain a clean, well-organized store/department; facilitate a safe working and shopping environment.
Ensure the department is adequately equipped with the tools necessary to perform required tasks.
Job Requirements:
Personally close the store a minimum of five days per week. Weekend availability is a must.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices including legal compliance and store procedures.
Good organization skills with attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists.
Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
Ability to communicate performance, conduct, and safety expectations regularly.
Follow company policies and procedures, Employee Handbook, and company communications; ensure employee compliance.
Demonstrate responsiveness and sensitivity to customer needs.
Interact with team members respectfully and honestly.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking and standing.
Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling stocking merchandise and unload trucks.
Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment such as pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, and four-wheeled carts.
Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds.
Occasional climbing (using a ladder).
Work Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.
One year of management experience in a food service environment is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.50 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
