Hostess/Cashier

Shirasoni Japanese Restaurant is looking for a Host to join our team at our Alameda, CA location.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests as they enter the restaurant
• Ensure the restaurant is clean and tidy when guests enter or leave
• Accurately register and handle cash transactions
• Assist customers with their orders and take food and drink orders
• Provide customers with menus and explain menu items with examples (e.g. salmon with lemon and dill sauce, tuna with cucumber salad, etc.)
• Take customers’ orders food and/or beverages and place them on the table
• Answer customers’ questions about ingredients, ingredients costs, pricing and other issues that may arise
• Communicate effectively with other staff members
• Escort customers to their desired seating area or to the check-out counter where their order was taken
• Check the quality of food served and report to supervisors
• Escort guests to their tables when they arrive home from work
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment

Skills

• Proven work experience as a Host/Cashier in a restaurant hotel setting
• Hands-on experience in cashier duties including recording transactions, counting money, opening and closing bank deposits, etc.
• Proficiency in computer software (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Word, etc.)to handle customer service tasks
• Familiarity with restaurant management best practices
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to perform in fast-paced environments

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour
