About Ruidoso, New Mexico

Nestled between tall pines and mountain vistas at an elevation of 6,900 feet, Ruidoso is home to Lincoln County Medical Center, which has served the community and surrounding areas since 1950 when the facility first opened as the Ruidoso-Hondo Valley General Hospital. Lincoln County Medical Center is owned by the County of Lincoln, and since 1972, Lincoln County Medical Center has been leased and managed by Presbyterian Healthcare Services.


Summary:
Cares for patients referred by the primary care provider, then returns care of the patient to the primary care physician at the time of discharge. The hospitalist is responsible for managing the care of inpatients and works collaboratively with nurse case and care managers, care coordinators, consulting and primary care physicians and other facility-based healthcare professionals who comprise the patients care team. The hospitalist leads the care team in providing efficient but compassionate care.

 

Practice Highlights

*Twelve 12-hour shifts per month required

*1728 Annual hours per year

*Manage inpatient rounds & new admissions

*Respond to Codes as necessary and perform procedures; intubations, central lines, arterial lines, insert chest tubes in an Open ICU setting


Responsibilities:
*Oversees and is accountable for the overall quality of care and clinical outcomes within the assigned facilities.
* Oversees and is accountable for all resource utilization within the assigned facilities.
* Ensure both patient and provider satisfaction and develop plans for improvement.
*Provides input into the hospitalist teams financial, clinical, and service quality performance; budget; capital plan; and personnel issues.
*Organize, attend and facilitate daily care team meetings within the assigned facility.
*Attend and participate in all regular scheduled hospitalist meetings
*Attend and participate in requested QI, Peer Review and Care Management meetings.
*Attend and participate in Sub-specialist/Medical group meetings as requested.
*Provide real time feedback to PCPs regarding clinical and operational guidelines to optimize patient care and clinical efficiency.
*Maintain coding and encounter data standards for completeness, accuracy, timeliness and reimbursement level., including legible documentation
*Meet and maintain all provider credentialling and QI standards.
*Participate in the development, adoption, and implementation process for clinical standards for inpatient care.
*Knowledgeable of the contents of The Hospitalist Manual: An Evidence-Based Approach to Medicine.
*Work with the Medical Director and/or the Lead Hospitalists to assure proper provider staffing, including vacation coverage.
*Mentor and educate all new hospitalists on PMG s service standards.
*Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, literature review, in-services, and workshops.


Credentials Required:
MD/DO., board eligible or certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. State of New Mexico Medical License.
