In this role you will provide technical assistance to the Retina Division at the Jules Stein Eye Institute/Department of Ophthalmology. Major duties include assisting in providing patient care, perform ophthalmic pre-examination work up, preparing and stocking patient examination rooms and perform some clerical work. Salary Range: $25.62 - $33.84 / hourly
* Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology anatomy, physiology as well as disease of the eye and systemic disease that affect the eye. * Skill in acquiring accurate medical history, measuring and recording visual acuity, and tonometry. * Ability to learn state of the art diagnostic equipment. * Knowledge of ophthalmic medications and the proper instillation of these into the eye. * Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and instrument sterilization techniques. * Ability to organize and prioritize duties to maximize efficiency. * Ability to work under pressure over a busy workload. * Have interpersonal skills to maintain comfortable and cooperative working relationships with physicians, patients and co-workers. * Ability to work as a team member in a busy practice. * Ability to use ophthalmic equipment such as tonopen, slit lamp, VA monitor, auto-refractor, chair and applanation tonometer. * Ability to work with Microsoft Word and Excel software. * Must be able to work with regular, planned hours and days of the week based on the clinical needs of the service with occasional overtime * Pleasant, caring and compassionate personality. * Responsible, with ability to work in a detail-oriented manner.
