Western State Hospital is seeking to hire a Hospital Central Services Technician 2.
In this role, you'll maintain medical instruments, equipment, and supplies for Western State Hospital's campus, which also includes the Child Study and Treatment Center (CSTC).
You will gain valuable work experience in a large-scale hospital setting while expanding your knowledge and gaining hands-on experience.
The work schedule is 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.

Some of what you will do
  • Assemble complex arrangements of specialized and intricate medical/surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies
  • Monitor medical schedules and plans to prioritize instruments, equipment, and supplies
  • Collect and sort contaminated instruments and supplies and clean items; disassemble and reassemble items with multiple parts
  • Problem-solve disinfection and sterilization equipment malfunctions and notify management of the need for correction
  • Distribute instruments, surgical trays, and all types of medical supplies to patient care staff
  • Inventory and assemble first aid kits, special emergency kits, procedure and care kits, and emergency carts
  • Sort, soak, and hand clean basins and instruments, trays, and associated items, inspecting and disassembling when needed and process through the ultrasonic and washer/disinfector; clean and sanitize medical equipment
  • Perform, analyze, and document sterilizer function tests using vacuum, chemical, and biological indicators; take appropriate action for abnormal results
  • Support ward staff by providing medical supplies per periodic automatic replenishment as well as wound care and non-stocked medical supplies
  • Provide assistance to staff in choosing supplies, identifying replacements or appropriate substitutions in out-of-stock conditions
  • Restock supply shelves; remove outdated trays and products from shelves and store sterile and/or clean products
  • Prepare and store bio-hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
  • Document inventory transactions; participate in yearly fiscal/physical inventory
What we are looking for
Completion of a recognized Central Supply Technician course and one year of technical experience involving sterilization of surgical trays, medical supplies, equipment, and instruments in a hospital or institution central medical supply unit
OR
Two years of experience processing complex trays of surgical instruments and equipment (or equivalent education/experience)
A Hospital Central Service Technician certification is needed at the time of hire.
