UHS is currently recruiting for our Hospital Administrator Program at South Texas Health System Edinburg in Edinburg, TX.  South Texas Health System Edinburg is a Level IV Trauma Center, an accredited Chest Pain Center and a Primary Stroke Center. The ER at South Texas Health System Edinburg is for adults only, and features Senior Care ER rooms with special amenities. The hospital offers advanced imaging capabilities, minimally invasive robotic surgery, inpatient rehabilitation and other specialty services.  Edinburg was awarded an 'A' from The Leapfrog Group for three straight years.  HealthGrades has recognized the hospital with its highest 5-star rating in four key areas of women’s health. This places Edinburg in the top tier of quality and safety outcomes for normal deliveries, cesarean sections, gynecological surgical procedures and hysterectomies. As the Rio Grande Valley continues to grow, South Texas Health System Edinburg recently invested $105 million to build a new 5-story patient tower to take care of the growing healthcare needs. The new patient tower included an expanded ER, an all-new imaging department, expanded ICU beds, additional medical/surgical/telemetry beds, and an expanded inpatient rehabilitation unit with the latest technology available. 

South Texas Health System Children's is at the same location. The facility is the first freestanding pediatric hospital in the Rio Grande Valley. The 107-bed hospital features the region’s only exclusive pediatric emergency department, a Joint Commission certified asthma program, Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Institute as well as access to physicians in many specialty areas.

Position Summary:

The selected candidate will provide day-to-day operations for various hospital departments and be assigned projects to further the strategy of the Hospitals. He/she will implement the strategy of the CEO and COO and will manage their assigned departments efficiently and effectively to maximize the quality of services and the profits of the hospital. The individual will also be enrolled in our corporate Leadership Development classes to further their development as a junior executive and prepare the indivual to become a COO within UHS.   

Position Requirements:

Knowledge: Knowledge of the financial implications of decisions including budgeting and forecasting for a limited number of departments and/or projects is required.

Skills: Must be detail oriented and able to focus on nuances of multiple hospital operations. Effective communication skills with diverse groups, including physicians, managers, and employees is required.

Education: Master’s degree required (MBA, MHA or related program).

Work experience:

• Hospital management experience at a mid level (3-7 yrs)
• Acute Care Hospital Experience required
• Must be open to Relocation
• Strong Project Management experience
• Strong critical thinking skillset
• Administrative Residency or Fellowship a plus
