The Medical Director at Tri-Cities Chaplaincy is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and providing medical direction to the agency's hospice and palliative care programs. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of patient care and the delivery of compassionate, comprehensive end-of-life care to patients and their families. The Medical Director will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans, maintain clinical excellence, and uphold the organization's mission to provide comfort, dignity, and support to individuals in their final stages of life.

Minimum Position Qualifications

· Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree with an active and unrestricted medical license.

· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

· Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities, with a focus on patient-centered care.

· Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards and compliance with regulations.

· Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Position Qualifications

· Board-certification or eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine is preferred.

· Experience in hospice and palliative care, along with a demonstrated commitment to compassionate end-of-life care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Clinical Leadership:

· Provide medical oversight and direction to the hospice and palliative care programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines.

· Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans, focusing on pain management, symptom control, and psychosocial support for patients and their families.

· Regularly assess patients' medical needs and adjust treatment plans accordingly, promoting a patient-centered and holistic approach to care.

· Conduct regular medical case reviews and ensure appropriate documentation of patient care.

2. Team Collaboration:

· Work closely with the hospice and palliative care teams, including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, other healthcare, and administrative professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and communication.

· Provide guidance, education, and support to the team members to enhance their knowledge and skills related to hospice and palliative care.

· Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to optimize patient care outcomes.

3. Education and Training:

· Organize and participate in educational programs for staff, volunteers, and the community to promote understanding and awareness of hospice and palliative care principles.

· Stay updated on the latest developments and research in the field of hospice and palliative medicine, sharing relevant information with the team to improve care practices.

4. Ethics and Compliance:

· Ensure compliance with ethical standards and applicable laws related to end-of-life care and patient confidentiality.

· Act as a resource for ethical decision-making, addressing complex medical and ethical issues that may arise during patient care.

5. Quality Assurance:

· Assist with the quality assurance program to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the hospice and palliative care services.

· Identify areas for improvement and work with the team to develop and implement strategies to enhance the quality of care provided.

6. Community Outreach:

· Represent the agency at relevant medical and community events, fostering partnerships and collaborations to expand awareness and access to hospice and palliative care services.

7. Other duties as assigned.

AGENCY REQUIREMENTS

1. Demonstrate support and adherence to the agency’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

2. Participate in community Education and Outreach to raise awareness of agency-provided programs including but not limited to hospice care, advanced care planning, and bereavement.

3. Responsible for knowledge and compliance with agency policies, procedures, and practices.

4. Responsible for maintaining and protecting Patient and agency information in a confidential manner. Practice appropriate HIPAA confidentiality by accessing patient-related information on a “need to know” basis only.

5. Reliable personal transportation, and current and valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.

6. Satisfaction of state and agency requirements for Tuberculin testing

7. Hepatitis B immunization series, proof of series, or signed declination.

8. Proof of applicable Vaccination(s) on file or approved accommodation/declination as appropriate on file.

9. Must pass a criminal background screening and pre-employment drug screening.

10. Ability to meet the physical demands of the position (see attached physical requirements and environmental conditions).

11. Complete agency and departmental orientation and training program(s).

12. Complete all continued learning, education, policy reviews, and required training by their respective deadlines.

13. Maintain licensure(s) and certification(s) required for the position.

14. Available to work as assigned/scheduled.

At Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, we carefully establish salary ranges for our positions by taking various factors into account, including education, certifications, knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions. These ranges are tailored to match the diverse programs and services we offer. Our goal is to ensure fair compensation for candidates based on these factors while maintaining internal peer equity.


Pay Range: $214,000/annual - $407,000/annual

Target Hiring Range for this Position: $285,000/annual - $325,000/annual



Full-Time Benefits

· Mileage reimbursement at $.655 per mile.

· Vacation hours accrued each pay period based on hours worked can earn up to 17 vacation days in your first 12 months of employment.

· Sick time earned on an accrual basis at .04615 per hour worked.

· Ten recognized paid holidays - no waiting period for new hires.

· Health Benefits start the first of the month following your start date.

· Health Benefit Options: Medical, Dental, Vision, Supplemental Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Aflac, and Life Flight.

· Agency-covered benefits include Basic Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment at 1xAnnual Salary, Long Term Disability, and Short-Term Disability.

· 401k: 3% equivalent of base pay employer contribution to your 401k after 1 year of employment and 1080 hours worked, as well as a 2% employer 401k matching after 1 year of employment and 1080 hours worked.

· Health Reimbursement Account for Medical covered members. Member is responsible for the first $1,125 of their deductible or $2,250 for family. After which members may submit for reimbursement up to $3875 per covered member or $7,750 for family.

· Full-time employees may be eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service .

· Premium pay for bilingual in Spanish; verified through ALTA staff testing.

· Upon review/approval Premium pay for approved certifications.

· Tuition Reimbursement up to $5,000 per year after 12 months of employment.
