A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HOSPICE AIDE

As a nursing aide in healthcare, you play an essential role in providing services that are ordered by the physician and follow along with a patient's plan of care. You conduct a range of hands-on personal care for each patient, which includes assisting them with bathing, oral care, hair care, shaving, nail care, and dressing. Other responsibilities you partake in involve performing simple nursing or therapy procedures and assisting with ambulation or exercises as well as administering medications. You also help patients with cooking and other feeding needs when necessary.

In addition, you also provide comfort measures such as back rubs, and position changes in bed for comfort. The safety of your patients is of the utmost importance to you, and you take great care to practice infection control by following universal precautions. You also actively recognize and report any forms of abuse according to policy as well as federal and state laws. When needed, you assist with completing tasks around the office, setting up telemonitoring equipment, and helping with orientation for new hires. You love having a job that allows you to help others, which is why you are perfect for this nursing aide position!
