The Horticulturist/Nursery Manager is responsible for all operations and management of the nursery as well as planting care and procedures.
Duties and Expectations:
- Oversee, lead and manage all aspects of the nursery to include:
- Plant and tree care such as pruning, watering, weeding, tagging, bunking and fertilizing
- Disease identification, plant stress identification and pest control
- Plant organization and inventory management
- Manage, plan and prepare the process of moving plants to job site
- Oversee, manage and lead the quality control of planting on job sites and the assurance that plants are being planted properly after they leave the nursery
- Maintain clear, consistent and effective communication regarding job site with foremen, crew and main office to include, but not limited to, items like:
- Communicating with project managers on which jobs are going to be planted and when deliveries are happening
- Communicating with foreman and crew as to where plants are located in the nursery
- Helping foreman and crew execute an efficient plant identification and pick-up process
- Manage and oversee nursery assistants.
