Horse Farm Hand

Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as a Farm Hand at a private hunter/jumper barn. As a Farm Hand, you will play a vital role in assisting with various tasks related to farm operations. This is a hands-on position that requires physical stamina and a passion for working outdoors. You are expected to be part of a team we all work together! We do require that you have horse experience and be comfortable handling large horses. 9 horses currently on the facility, with a maximum of 12 possible.

A Typical schedule is as followed: The typical day starts at 6:00 AM with feeding and turning out horses. Stalls are cleaned and bedded daily. Horses are brought back into stalls for the evening at 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities:
- General horse care (Grooming, tacking, wound care, bathing)

- Cleaning stalls, inside automatic waters and outside automatic waters

- Pasture maintenance (Dragging manure, picking up loose hay)

- Detailing the inside of the barn (Dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, organizing)

Qualifications:
-Horse experience - handling, wound care, medical treatment (recognizing sickness/colic/injuries)

- Be a team player - you are not just an employee; you are part of a team!

- Be able to work at a pace that you set to accomplish the tasks for the day. This position can be very independent!

Pay is based on experience and we are happy to discuss pay. Currently we have some specific days and times we are looking to fill. Wednesday day hours, Friday evening hours, and Saturday day hours. Times and days can be somewhat flexible. We are looking forward to fall when one full time staff member leaves for maternity leave and the college students leave. Hours can easily increase to 20-30 hours weekly in the fall and throughout the winter.
