Horse Care Assistant
Concordia Farms is a 52 acre horse property that prides itself on sustainable farm management and detail oriented horse keeping. We operate a horse training and riding lesson business. Our facilities include a Working Equitation course in the making and a paddock paradise track system in which we are currently researching the horses. The Concordia team is always looking for new ways to innovate and improve the eciency of the farm as a whole.
We are seeking an experienced Horse Care Assistant to help with equine care. We oer competitive compensation and steady employment in a professional, friendly, and stable environment.
Tasks
● horse handling and care
● feeding, cleaning waterers
● mucking turnout sheds and pastures
● turnout/in
● cleaning barn and facilities
● farm maintenance
● assisting the team with setting up educational clinics
● grooming and tacking
● infrequent stall cleaning
The Ideal Applicant
● Certified First Aid (Human) First Aid Knowledge (Horses)
● a team player with a strong work ethic who is able to follow instructions,
● an experienced pony and horse handler
● a person who is currently in a lesson program (any discipline)
● a person who is studying or is majoring in equine studies/science
● a person who has a history of working in a professional environment with knowledgeable instructors
● a person who presently has an equine mentor or teacher
● a person who has an appreciation for the classics and for equine history
Equine Experience Required
● At least three years of all-around caring for horses, including pasture and manure management
● At least one year of stable and arena maintenance
● Knowledgeable in equine health
● At least one year of agricultural/farm experience Requirements
● must be authorized to work in U.S.
● must have H.S. degree, college degree in Equine Studies preferred
● must have valid Driver’s License
● must pass criminal background check
● must be able to lift 50 pounds
● must have reliable transportation
Working Student Opportunity
This position presents a special opportunity for the serious equestrian to expand their education with an individualized lesson program. While we embrace all disciplines, our principal focus is on the art of classical dressage. This type of dressage opens a world of possibilities for the handler/rider in horse training, conditioning, ground work and overall perspective.
