Position Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Instruction and with the support of an Instructional Administrator, the Homeschool Teacher is responsible for the education of assigned TK-12th grade students and will create an individualized and flexible program favorable for learning and personal growth. In addition, the Homeschool Teacher will support instruction based on the California Common Core State Standards and will address student needs for academic intervention and enrichment. The Homeschool Teacher will also work with the student’s parents to provide guidance, resources, and strategies to ensure optimal learning and positive social/emotional development.

Pay Scale: Schedule A

Calendar: 190 work days

Work Location: Sandstone location*

*School will accommodate telecommuting requests

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves and supports students in grades TK*-12th grade. E
  • Meets with students and parents at least once every 20 school days to review each student’s work and ensure each student is making satisfactory progress. E
  • Develops lesson plans that ensure the attainment of the California Common Core State Standards. E
  • Provides direct and indirect instruction. E
  • Establishes and maintains strong, positive relationships with students and their parents. E
  • Develops customized short and long term plans for each child and addresses the
  • specific individual needs of the student. E
  • Prepares students for all required assessments. E
  • Collects and analyzes assessment data for educational planning and determines
  • appropriate interventions. E
  • Evaluates each student’s progress. E
  • Reviews and approves enrichment orders for materials and services that support the
  • student’s learning plan in accordance with school policies. E
  • Promptly completes required paperwork and necessary records. E
  • Provides an inviting, exciting, and innovative learning environment. E
  • Encourages student participation in local and state-mandated testing to measure student performance. E
  • Participates in proctoring all internal and state-mandated testing and provides needed preparation materials for students. E
  • Completes all compliance items accurately and in a timely manner (examples: master agreements, attendance logs, work samples/records, learning logs, progress reports, assignment sheets, report cards, etc.) E
  • Actively participates in SST, 504, and Special Education meetings, processes, and supports as needed. E
  • Provides input and documentation as requested by the special education case managers, student support coordinators, and/or service providers. E
  • Attends all required meetings and professional development training. E
  • Plans and coordinates regional events such as field trips, community service clubs, performances, promotion/graduation, etc. in alignment with monthly and yearly expectations. E
  • Serves on school committees, participates in school and community activities, and represents the school as appropriate. E
  • Performs other duties as assigned. E

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of various learning modalities and educational philosophies.
  • Knowledge of effective strategies, curriculum, and instruction to support all students.
  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum and educational programs.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills in English, including academic report writing.
  • Proficiency in operating standard office equipment including a variety of software applications including, but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Google (docs, sheets, forms, drives), and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Google Chat, etc.).
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, work under time constraints, and be flexible in an environment of multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Must have a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and dependability.
  • Must be able to maintain accurate records.
  • Must live in the Northern California, Sacramento area and be able to commute to El Dorado Hills.

Education and Licenses:

  • Possess a valid California multiple subject teaching credential and meet any other credential requirements.
  • Possess English Learner Authorization
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • *To serve TK students, educators must meet 1 of the 3 following CDE criteria:
  • 24 units in early childhood education, or childhood development, or both
  • Professional experience in a classroom setting with preschool-age children that is comparable to 24 units of early childhood education, or childhood development, or both.
  • Has earned a valid child development teacher permit or an early childhood education specialist credential.

Environment including Hazardous Conditions:

This position may include indoor offices/classrooms and outdoor work (including eating and common area(s), auditorium, playground(s), restroom(s), stairs if applicable, and parking lot(s)) with the following possible exposures: dust; wind; sun; insects; bloodborne pathogens and biohazardous waste; variances in weather conditions (snow, rain, sleet, etc.); noise which can range from quiet to loud; fast paced work environment with possible stressful situations and need to multi-task; traffic congestion; playground projectiles such as baseballs, footballs, basketballs, etc.; intervening physically to stop conflicts between angry or emotionally upset students; and, dealing with students, parents, employees and the general public who may exhibit unpredictable or anti-social behavior.

Employees in this position may have a higher level of exposure to illness or infection from students.
