Position Summary
The Consumer Direct Home Loan Consultant is the primary company representative to our online community. This position facilitates individual applications and acts as a liaison between processing, underwriting, closing and the borrower.
Essential Responsibilities
- Make sales calls on potential or existing customers, as assigned, to develop new business or retain existing business, including weekly distribution of rates and programs to clients.
- Responsible for the overall customer interaction and interface with all parties involved on each individual loan that is originated from application to closing including, but not limited to: counseling and prequalifying potential home buyers; taking complete and accurate applications; obtaining all necessary support documents along with the appropriate fee and lock-in information; overseeing the loan process by monitoring loan status and ensuring conformity with terms; assisting in collecting additional documents and promptly communicating loan status to all interested parties, and obtaining loan documentation after closing.
- Assure complete application process is completed in compliance with company policies and guidelines.
- Stay informed of trends and developments in the real estate market and the competitive environment, as well as the changing rules and regulations pertaining to both private and government-insured mortgages.
- Maintain a professional image and standards consistent with company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for a high level of confidentiality and security while handling personal information; verbal and/or written documentation.
Requirements
Experience and Training
- Strong sales experience with demonstrated potential to transfer skills to mortgage origination.
- Experience converting leads and in-bound calls.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, statistics or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Employee must remain current on any and all applicable registration, licensing and training obligations required under the SAFE Act and/or any other state, federal or local laws pertaining to Loan Officer Certification or standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be self-motivated and enthusiastic to obtain personal and company goals.
- Employee must at all times be able to meet any and all applicable qualifications and standards required for Loan Officer Licensure under the SAFE Act.
- Good analytical skills necessary to evaluate credit requests and determine trends in a given marketplace.
- Must be comfortable working with the public, and able to make good decisions and meet deadlines.
- Ability to write accurate reports and documents; holds self to a high level of quality.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands:
- Mostly sedentary, however, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop; talk and hear.
- Extensive reading and computer use is expected more than 50% of the time. Receiving and expressing detailed information verbally, in person and by telephone is essential. Must be able to verbally communicate effectively with others.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- Regular attendance is necessary and essential to this position.
Work Environment:
- Professional atmosphere in a branch environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
- Care must be observed while driving - absolutely no texting while driving.
