Terms of Employment:
At least 5 hours per week at $30.29/hour
Job Goal:
To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Provides substantive, specific, and timely feedback of student progress to students, families, and other school personnel while maintaining confidentially.
2. Uses effective communication strategies with students and families and works effectively with colleagues to examine problems of practice, analyze student work, and identify targeted strategies.
3. Meets ethical and professional responsibilities with integrity and honesty. The teacher models and upholds district policies and state and federal regulations.
4. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms. This could include IEP meetings, MTSS, or behavior meetings.
5. Informs parents of child's progress.
6. Ensures the safety of students.
7. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Instructional Responsibilities:
1. The Home Instruction Teacher would instruct in all areas with a focus around the IEP goals (if applicable). Uses identified needs to guide the learning process toward student achievement of districts reading/language arts and math content standards. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data obtained from students. Instructor would collaborate with the student's family to schedule a time and place for instructions as appropriate to meet the student's needs.
2. The Home Instruction Teacher will act as the student's IEP case manager (if applicable). The case manager will be responsible for writing the IEP, holding the necessary meetings and progress reports as required.
Classroom Responsibilities:
1. Provides written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
2. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
3. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, administrative guidelines, or specific program requirements.
4. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and instruction.
5. Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
6. Interprets student needs and progressing reading remediation to the classroom teacher and the parents.
Assessment Responsibilities:
1. Conducts student assessments and observation survey to select children for services and assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
2. Collaborates, as needed, with appropriate district personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions.
Professional Development Responsibilities:
1. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence through professional development activities.
2. Attends meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
3. Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent.
Home instruction duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Design and implement program curriculum
  • Monitor program components
  • Academic Tutoring/Intervention based on student need
  • Collect and track student data as required
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgement.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships.
  • Attends meetings, professional development and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students and parents.
  • Refer suspected cases of child abuse immediately to the appropriate child protective services/law enforcement agency as mandated by state law and Board of Education policy.
  • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect district equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Determine appropriate delivery method i.e. virtual, in-person at student home, agreed upon location.
  • Must be willing to deliver instruction in the student's home.

Each staff member shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
