As a Home Healthcare Aide / Caregiver, you’ll visit a variety of clients in their own homes, using your clinical skills and compassionate heart to bring the highest level of care to patients by helping them recover from an injury, illness, surgery, or hospitalization.
Essential Duties:
- Observation, reporting and documentation of patient status and services delivered.
- Providing all aspects of personal care, including, but not limited to, services for: bathing, nail care, feeding, skin care, toileting/elimination, oral hygiene, dressing, hair care and shampooing
- Assisting with rehabilitative and restorative activities under the direction of the therapist or nurse, which would include, but not limited to, the following activities: ambulation with or without assistive devices, transfer, repositioning, range of motion, prescribed functional activities
Other Duties:
- Reading and recording temperature, pulse, and respiration.
- Measure and record input and output.
- Assist the patient with self-administration of medicine.
- Treatments requiring documented supervision by a professional which would include, but is not limited to, the following: enema, special skin care, non-sterile dressing and reinforcement of dressings, use of appliances and adaptive equipment, colostomy care.
- Nutritional assistance including meal planning and preparation according to diet instructions, serving and feeding, monitoring/encouraging/restricting fluid intake as instructed.
- Perform general housekeeping functions essential to patient care including light cleaning of sickroom, light cleaning of bathroom, kitchen dishes, patient’s laundry, linen change.
- Maintains effective working relationship with patient and family members.
- Records all activities performed and submits documentation as required.
- Communicates by phone any pertinent information to appropriate professional staff.
- Performs relief visits/office work, if necessary, when there is a schedule opening.
Skills:
- A valid driver’s license.
- A registered vehicle.
- Relevant health checks as per required by state (if applicable).
