Job Description
Specific duties include:
- Requests and evaluates incoming documents and information to assure it is complete, accurate, and meets Underwriting requests and requirements. Uploads documents to LOS and updates information in mortgage origination software with accuracy.
- Ensures Borrower satisfaction through efficient and accurate processing of the loan, timely responses, and by properly setting and delivering on expectations. Works in conjunction with the Home Equity and/or Mortgage Team to achieve maximum efficiency, best practices, and maintain member satisfaction as measured by survey results.
- Tracks their assigned Home Equity pipeline to efficiently manage timing requirements, title search turn time, appraisal turn time, TRID compliance dates, and projected closing dates. Works overtime as needed to effectively manage the pipeline.
- Communicates effectively, via phone and email, with Borrowers and third parties, from conditional approval to closing. Able to explain and coordinate the loan process, loan 8% parameters, conditions required and deadlines to be met, in an appropriate manner and tone, without grammatical or spelling errors.
- Issues Stop-the-Clock Letter, Adverse Action Letter, Loan Estimate(s), Closing Disclosure(s), and Appraisal reports to Borrower within required regulatory timeframe.
- Evaluates appraisal report and the property values impact on the loan, to ensure it meets underwriting guidelines.
- Acquires and maintains knowledge of NEFCU Home Equity loan program offerings, NEFCU products and services, federal compliance regulations, and credit union policies through ongoing education.
- Works with all members to ascertain potential future goals and aspirations and if necessary, referring them to the applicable business area for fulfillment.
- Maintains positive relations with third parties such as Appraisers, Law Firms, Insurance companies and Title Companies.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A minimum of one year up to three years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience. Previous mortgage lending/processing experience and knowledge preferred.
- A high school degree or equivalent. Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment.
- Exhibits excellent attention to detail, organization, interpersonal, and listening skills.
- Has strong customer service expertise.
- Exhibits deep problem-solving and decision-making skills.
