WACOG’s Human Services Department is the core of our Community Action designation and purpose that provides pathways to self-sufficiency for individuals and families through service delivery and engagement in community-level initiatives within Yuma, La Paz, and Mohave Counties.

SUMMARY STATEMENT

Under supervision, complete the “Home Energy Audit” and apply technical knowledge and exercise proper judgment in determining the most cost-effective and energy efficient methods to complete energy projects while ensuring adherence with quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

1) Receive written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor and schedule weekly home audits with priority based on health and safety.

2) Determine energy efficient retrofit replacement to be completed by contractor.

3) Provide accurate and timely field documentation regarding completed pressure diagnostics, combustion safety reports, and issuing health and safety warnings at time condition is identified.

4) Accurately input field data into the DOE web-based system and other locations as assigned.

5) Inform Lead Home Energy Audit Technician of any Health and Safety concerns and problems obtained in the gathering of field data during home audit and diagnostic processes.

6) Perform repair tasks, such as replacing broken windows, insulating or replacing hot water heaters, evaporative coolers, and or air conditioners, installing thresholds, caulking windows, weather stripping doors, minor repairing/replacing roof sections, and other repair work as deemed necessary.

7) Monitor and/or assess Contractor and Sub-Contractor work to ensure quality is up to established standards; report findings to supervisor.

8) Provide professional customer service by addressing homeowners’ questions and assisting with issues and concerns.

9) Perform Energy education to homeowner on energy conservation.

10) Provide timely documentation regarding time, materials used, vehicle usage, and other accountability forms.

11) Ensure diagnostic equipment, tools, and vehicle are properly used and are in good working condition; secure when not in use.

12) Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

13) Travel within WACOG service area, including overnight stays as needed; additional travel may be required..

14) Maintain reliable and predictable attendance; work outside of standard business hours as needed.

15) Utilize tact and discretion to maintain confidentiality of information and a positive image of WACOG.

16) Perform other duties as necessary to carry out the administrative/ programmatic goals and objectives of WAGOG and/or department.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSAs)The individual who holds this position must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The KSAs listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities needed for satisfactory performance.

- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

-Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions

-Basic knowledge of building codes and energy codes

-Basic knowledge of equipment being worked on such as hot water heaters and electric and gas ranges.

-Ability to assess and determine required weatherization measures

-Skill in navigating through small and/or high spaces in a safe manner

-Skill in working with power tools to perform work in a safe environment

-Willingness to pass BPI certification

-Ability to think creatively and be resourceful to address multiple obstacles preventing clients from achieving goals

-Knowledge of diversity and the acceptance and ability to adjust approach accordingly

-Ability to navigate through relevant software programs and Microsoft Office products

-Proficiency in communicating in the native language of clients is preferred

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED

One year general construction and/or maintenance experience

Combination of education and experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Three years experience performing professional electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, or general construction

Building Performance Institute Certificate (BPI)

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 21 years of age

Valid Arizona driver license, MVR Report of Acceptable Driving Record, and proof of vehicle liability insurance Current AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card/ Criminal History Affidavit/Central Registry Background Check

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment

(Ability to secure and maintain a driver’s license valid in the state of Arizona, or an acceptable alternative means of transportation. May be required to drive an agency vehicle. Employees authorized to operate a private vehicle for WACOG business are required to carry liability insurance minimums. For purposes of vehicle insurance, minimum 21 years of age.)
