Hlth Info Mgmt Facility Coder

The HIM Hospital Facility Coder will assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT or other designated coding classification system in accordance with coding rules and regulations. The coder will abstract required information. The Coder will demonstrate competency in medical terminology, disease processes, pharmacology, Official Coding Guidelines for ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT codes, documentation requirements for correct and accurate coding, and have knowledge of local and federal guidelines.

Associate or Bachelor degree in Health Information Management, or completion of AAPC coding program.

Two years coding experience in a hospital setting preferred

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or other applicable coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC.
