The City of Long Beach, Department of Health and Human Services is recruiting for one (1) unclassified, at-will, full-time Public Health Professional I to serve as the HIV/STD Quality Management Coordinator in the Physician Services Bureau. Reporting to the HIV Care/Prevention Director (Community Program Specialist V), this position will function as the HIV/STD Quality Management Coordinator to provide guidance, strategic planning, and QUALITY MANAGEMENT oversight of all HIV/AIDS/STD care prevention and clinical services. This position is located at the main health department office located at 2525 Grand Ave, Long Beach CA 90815.
- Supervises the HIV/AIDS Data Entry Clerk (Public Health Associate II);
- Develops and reviews QUALITY MANAGEMENT metrics across multiple HIV/STD delivery and surveillance-based activities;
- Enters, analyzes and interprets PUBLIC HEALTH data using the AIDS Regional Information and Evaluation System (ARIES), Casewatch, Nextgen and other data systems;
- Assists in preparation of research proposals and grant applications;
- Monitors established quality metrics to ensure HIV Care Program Grant compliance through the tracking, monitoring, and evaluation of program-related data;
- Prepares program progress reports and other HIV data;
- Identifies gaps in services and/or program operations and makes recommendations for improvement;
- Monitors program compliance to all applicable HIV laws and regulations; and
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Social Work, Education, Business Administration, Public Policy, or a closely related field (*proof required).
- Program management experience in a public agency beyond the minimum requirements may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
- One (1) year of professional experience in PUBLIC HEALTH, public policy and administration or human services related programs serving vulnerable populations.
- Valid motor vehicle operator license.
- Required to obtain a California motor vehicle operator license within 6 months of employment if license is out of state. DMV K4 driver license information report printout required during onboarding if selected for position.
- Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Public Administration , or a closely related field.
- Experience providing QUALITY MANAGEMENT in an HIV/AIDS program.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Bilingual skills (Khmer, Spanish, Tagalog, and/or Vietnamese)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, be flexible, and manage multiple assignments in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people and populations by consistently exercising tact, good judgement, and a proactive, problem-solving focused style.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to de-escalate and resolve conflicts independently and effectively.
- Proficiency in the use of computers, including email, internet, and office productivity software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
