The Loomis Chaffee School announces a search for an instructor in history to begin teaching in August 2024. The preferred candidate holds a degree in history or in a related field and has the ability to teach courses in American history. A preference for teaching advanced and/or upper-level courses is a plus. Information on our current course offerings can be found here.
Experience teaching in the field and an advanced degree are preferred but not essential.
Candidates should show enthusiasm for collaboration and for their students’ development as historical thinkers, writers, and researchers; candidates should also prioritize principles from diversity, equity, and inclusion in their curriculum and teaching.
Loomis Chaffee is a boarding school and, in addition to teaching history, other responsibilities could include dormitory residence or association and participation in the afternoon program at the school in a manner commensurate with the candidate’s skills.

The Loomis Chaffee School is an independent, coeducational boarding/day school of 700 students and 170 faculty members, located in the historic town of Windsor, Connecticut. Chartered in 1874, the school provides an academically challenging curriculum within a supportive community that affirms individual beliefs and differences. Need-based financial aid is currently awarded to 33 percent of the student body.
