Job description

The History Archivist will be responsible for organizing, preserving, cataloging, and sharing Jockey’s 140+ year artifacts in our in-house archive.  This role will also be responsible for sharing our exciting history with the organization to stimulate ideas and immerse Jockey employees in our storied brand.   

 

JOB SCOPE:

  • Assist with the preservation, research, and cataloging of Jockey’s artifact and document collections.
  • Catalog and inventory collections; maintain in computer archives/databases.
  • Provide enhancements of archival/collections metadata and digitization.
  • Assist with archive requests from various corporate departments (i.e., preparation of historical content for social media channels, etc.).
  • Create and maintain artifact tracking to facilitate check in/out of artifacts from the collection.
  • Interview associates to gather and document information for the most recent 20 years of Jockey history.
  • Facilitate the authentication and appraisal of historical documents and archival materials.
  • Assist in creating guidelines concerning handling/access of materials.

Candidate Qualifications: 

  • Current student pursuing a degree in history, art history, anthropology, or museum studies.
  • Able to work 12-15 hours during the school year, with the possibility of expanded hours during school breaks.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong research and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy required.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and work well with minimum supervision.
