The History Archivist will be responsible for organizing, preserving, cataloging, and sharing Jockey’s 140+ year artifacts in our in-house archive. This role will also be responsible for sharing our exciting history with the organization to stimulate ideas and immerse Jockey employees in our storied brand.
JOB SCOPE:
- Assist with the preservation, research, and cataloging of Jockey’s artifact and document collections.
- Catalog and inventory collections; maintain in computer archives/databases.
- Provide enhancements of archival/collections metadata and digitization.
- Assist with archive requests from various corporate departments (i.e., preparation of historical content for social media channels, etc.).
- Create and maintain artifact tracking to facilitate check in/out of artifacts from the collection.
- Interview associates to gather and document information for the most recent 20 years of Jockey history.
- Facilitate the authentication and appraisal of historical documents and archival materials.
- Assist in creating guidelines concerning handling/access of materials.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Current student pursuing a degree in history, art history, anthropology, or museum studies.
- Able to work 12-15 hours during the school year, with the possibility of expanded hours during school breaks.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Strong research and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy required.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and work well with minimum supervision.
