Histology Technologist - Ocala

Pay Range: $30.34/hr - $42.47/hr. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
Key Responsibilities:

• Perform histology and cytology procedures including specimen processing/fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, case organization in accordance with department procedures.
• Assure positive sample, block and slide identification Prepare and maintains reagents for routine stains and histology procedures.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer & department procedures and per department schedule.
• Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.
• Utilize independent judgement and problem-solving skills to ensure the accuracy of procedures performed and proper equipment performance.
• Troubleshoots to and takes appropriate corrective action to resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely manner for resolution.
• Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.
• Thorough knowledge of histology methods and correlation to disease processes
• Ability to follow protocols for the proper fixation and routine staining of samples.
• Ability to consistently prepare and produce specimen sections with appropriate slide orientation, thickness, and stain quality for microscopic diagnosis by a pathologist.
• Demonstrate good technique in the cutting, embedding, orientation and staining of specimens.
• General knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements Excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills.
• Ability to train others Effective and proactive problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

• High School Diploma AND minimum two years of histology experience
• High School Diploma.
• Completion of an accredited program in Histo-technology
• Associate's degree in Chemistry, Biology AND one year of histology experience Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry
• National Certification/Licensure Requirements:
• FL State License Required ASCP - HT Required Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
