Histology Technician
Duties:
- Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination using various laboratory techniques
- Embed tissue samples in paraffin blocks and cut thin sections for mounting on slides
- Stain tissue sections with dyes or chemicals to enhance visibility of specific structures
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as microtomes, tissue processors, and staining machines
- Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and precision of test results
- Maintain accurate records of specimens, tests performed, and results obtained
- Assist pathologists and other medical professionals in the interpretation of test results
Requirements:
- Meets CLIA requirements for high-complexity testing (grossing) - 60 college credits, including 6 bio, 6 chem and 12 bio/chem/medical laboratory technology.
- Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) preferred
- Experience working in a clinical laboratory setting
- Strong attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity
- Knowledge of histology techniques, equipment, and safety protocols
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
