HIM Records Analyst

HIM Analysis and Deficiency Clerk

Candidates need 2+ years’ experience in HIM chart analysis and deficiency assignment via an electronic health record environment to include inpatient, emergency department, same day surgery and ancillary visit chart types. Experience working with Cerner Millenium a plus.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Reviews and analyzes all assigned records for deficiencies and requests missing elements as necessary.
• Reviews medical charts electronically
• Verifies the quality of scans into the patient’s record.
• Performs timely analysis on discharged patient records for completeness according to standards, guidelines and workflows established by the facility.
• Validates correct assignment of the deficiency to the provider. Analyzes the patient’s medical record to ensure the correct deficiency and provider have been identified. If needed, makes corrections and addresses any deficiencies.
• Research and resolve assigned HIM projects as needed
• Perform ongoing analysis of medical record charts for the appropriate compliance
• Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years experience in Health Information Management with focus on chart analysis and deficiency assignment.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills, ability to prioritize workloads, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
• Excellent customer service skills and general office procedure knowledge.
• Ability to problem solve, familiar with basic medical terminology; knowledgeable of medical record regulatory requirements.
• Microsoft Office proficiency
• High speed internet and secure home office space
• 40 hours (Full-time) availability weekly

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with electronic health records including but not limited to: Cerner Millenium, Epic, Meditech, AllScripts, McKesson.
• 5+ years experience in Health Information Management with additional experience in chart analysis and deficiency assignment.
• Previous experience in a consultative environment.
