Job Title: Manager – High Voltage Testing
Location: Monroe, NC
Company Overview: Join one of the largest original equipment manufacturers of instrument transformer products! Specializing in revenue metering and protective relaying, this organization offers a wide range of product designs suited for voltage transformer and current transformer service areas, while also providing technical services and support in regards to the application and service needs of their clients.
Job Summary:
The Manager – High Voltage Testing will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities within the High Voltage Test Lab.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Formulate and enforce policies and procedures to ensure the continual safe operation of the HV Test lab.
• Plan, develop, and execute projects and initiatives related to the test field and testing equipment, including managing CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
• Develop and oversee test plans, procedures, and schedules, ensuring optimal use of laboratory resources.
• Guarantee the secure and safe operation of High Voltage equipment, such as transformers and impulse generators.
• Conduct lab asset management tasks, including scheduling preventative maintenance and services, overseeing software upgrades, and routinely calibrating test equipment, tools, and instrumentation.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff to continuously evaluate testing capabilities and explore opportunities for improvements.
• Establish and maintain laboratory operation plans aligned with our client's growth objectives.
• Procure and manage inventory of laboratory equipment, tools, instruments, consumables, and test articles.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is mandatory (Advanced Graduate Degree preferred).
• Minimum 10-15 years of relevant High Voltage Testing experience, with a preference for experience in the utility industry.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, effective public speaking, and presentation abilities.
• Organized with a keen attention to detail.
• Knowledge of High Voltage laboratory test procedures and familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, and IEC standards.
• Experience in electrical power circuits, electrical theory, instrumentation, and data management.
• Technical problem-solving skills, ability to process information quickly, abstract thinking, and strong analytical abilities.
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including effective delegation of assignments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, with expertise in Excel and ERP systems.
Working Conditions:
• Office Work Environment: 76-100%
• Travel: Up to 25%
