Required Qualifications:
- Have or qualify for, a valid Washington State Principal's certificate
- Master's Degree
- Demonstrated ongoing desire to learn and grow professionally
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, both orally and in writing with students, parents, staff and patrons
- Fingerprint and criminal history background check through Washington State Patrol and FBI required
Performance Responsibilities:
1.Administration:
- Work cooperatively with the Superintendent and the Administrative Leadership Team for all students and staff
- Coordinate student and staff schedules to ensure student success
- Title IX Officer for the school district
- Nondiscrimination, Affirmative Action and Civil Rights Compliance Officer for the school district
- Work cooperatively with the Vice-Principal involving both in-school and co-curricular activities
2. Leadership:
- Provide leadership and supervision for a safe and nurturing climate that promotes successful learning
- Lead school improvement planning and implementation for continuous improvement of student success
- Participate and lead in connecting Professional Learning Communities (PLC), building leadership, and district teams
- Set up walk-through observations of teachers on a daily basis placing emphasis on the role of instructional leader
- Conduct staff evaluations and ongoing supervision of instruction
- Manage the building budget involving staff input and following state auditor requirements
- Organize and conduct teacher interviews and recommendations for hiring
- Supervise student teachers and administrative interns
3. Student Behavior Management:
- Supervise the Vice-Principal in the process and management of conduct referrals of students
- Supervise the Vice-Principal in the process and management of student attendance: excused/unexcused absences, tardies, and truancies
- Coordinate, distribute, and review with staff, students, and parents the Student Handbook information annually
- Encourage staff and set the example of frequent positive communication with parents/guardians
4. School Co-Curricular Activities:
- Manage the building master calendar of events, both school and community
- Establish schedules, budgets and expenditures
- Oversight of all personnel matters related to school activities and athletics
- Share with other members of the administration in the supervision of night activities, i.e., games, dances and activities
- Coordinate field trips and make appropriate forms available to teachers and students
- Coordinate schedule of school assemblies
- New student (incoming freshmen) orientation
5. Safety Aspects of Building and District:
- Administrator for the building safety plan and procedures
6. Student Government Activities:
- Oversight of elections and organization of student government
- Provide leadership of student government through attendance at all meetings of student council. Provide for attendance at various leadership conferences available to High School students
- Supervise all A.S.B. financial transactions (receipts and disbursements)
- Create an A.S.B. program budget that compiles with state audit requirements
7. Other Duties as Assigned by the Superintendent
Terms of Employment:
- Contract: 213 days
