Title: High School Art Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
REPORT TO:
Reports directly to the building principal.
Takes guidance from instructional coach.
JOB GOAL: Plans, directs, and evaluates learning experiences for the students in alignment with South Dakota state standards and laws, Oglala Lakota County School District policy, and Lakota Tech High School's mission and goals.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ability to Plan and Prepare Instructional Tasks
3. Provide Effective Classroom Environment
• Redirect students naturally and immediately without disrupting the learning or creating shame
• Be well-organized and have all materials, equipment, etc., ready for immediate use
• Carry out smooth and effective transitions (e.g., from one activity to another, as students enter and leave the room)
• Maximize time on purposeful instructional tasks
• Begin and end class period with a focus on learning and establishing meaningful connections to student goals.
• Establish a positive learning environment for all students
4. Participate in Professional Growth Opportunities and Demonstrate Professionalism
• Participate in ongoing professional growth
• Participate in school/professional and/or community organizations or events
• Complete routine assigned tasks and comply with District requirements
• Conduct parent-teacher conferences in accordance with District policy
5. Works with principal or other assigned personnel to ensure adequate equipment for students to participate in learning aligned with current industry practices. Maintains inventory of equipment to ensure timely ordering of materials and products. 6. Follow District and building policies and procedures
7. Support of District goals
8. Report student progress to parents and students
9. Perform other duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
ALL APPLICANTS ARE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK PURSUANT TO SDCL 13-10-12. Salary and work year will be established by the Oglala Lakota County School Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated by the CTE Lakota Tech Principal.

- Ability to acquire valid South Dakota Teacher certification, alternative certification, license or permit in Secondary Art Education.
- Ability to interact effectively with parents, school district personnel, and representatives of other agencies.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with students.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, written and verbal communication skills.
