Job description

The High Jewelry Manager, Strategic Sourcing manages the High Jewelry category’s supplier strategy, sourcing, and development activities to meet management’s Tiffany & Co.’s capacity and margin requirements. Also responsible for providing input and analysis to support leadership’s goals around achieving best in class manufacturing performance. Provides leadership to staff by setting clear expectations and driving accountability and development through the performance management process.

Key Accountabilities

Sourcing

  • Manages Make vs. Buy supplier selection activities based on detailed knowledge of supplier capabilities, performance history, etc.
  • Negotiates and manages product costs throughout development and full lifecycle for High Jewelry domestic supplier base, inclusive of tooling, modeling, and other costs.
  • Continuously seeks best practices, cost reduction and process improvement opportunities in partnership with Product Development, Design, and Category Management – engages suppliers in the process.
  • Owns and communicates supplier development timelines to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Leverages knowledge of jewelry manufacturing to challenge suppliers and optimize timelines and costs.
  • Manages (HJ) supplier relationship/business plan and coordinates with cross-functional teams on quality, payment, development, and logistical topics.
  • Maintains capability matrix and knowledge of supplier base.
  • Responsible for supplier onboarding and development.
  • Supports the director with the execution of category management strategies and other duties as assigned.

Metrics and Analysis

  • Conducts routine cost analysis to achieve merchandising targets.
  • Analyzes and shares consolidated summary of new product costs by collection with Merchandising team.
  • Develops and maintains (HJ) supplier scorecard and one pagers.
  • Monitors supplier business spend and proposes strategy recommendations with director to support business goals.
  • Performs ad hoc supplier risk monitoring.

Compliance

  • Ensures effective risk and compliance management with regards to category management.

Project Management

  • Plans supply strategies and plans and conducts sourcing projects by engaging stakeholders and the required cross-functional resources.

Leadership and Staff Development

  • Provide leadership to staff by setting clear expectations and driving accountability through the performance management process.
  • Develop talent by closing skill gaps in order to maximize staff potential through projects and stretch assignments.
  • Through professional presence and behaviors, inspire trust and integrity. Influence staff members at all levels through coaching, teambuilding and relationship building with business partners.

Safety

  • Demonstrate safety leadership by adherence to workplace safety policies and procedures. Recognize and positively reinforce good safety behaviors while delivering immediate, specific, and constructive feedback to employees who demonstrate unsafe work behavior.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • High-end jewelry manufacturing experience
  • 5+ years of relevant management or supervisory experience
  • Extensive knowledge of jewelry industry
  • Advanced MS Office computer skills – specifically Excel and Access
  • Strong organizational, verbal communication, writing and negotiation skills
  • Problem-solving and analytics skills, strong work ethic
  • Demonstrated coaching skills to support staff performance, development, and training
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities
  • Willing to work flexible hours to support deliverables and multiple priorities
  • Project management experience in a leadership capacity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Conversational communication skills in a second language
  • Professional qualification / certification from related professional body, (ISM – CPM / CPSM, APICS)

The hiring range for this position ranges from $117,810 - $138,600. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidates’ relevant skills and experience.
