Job description

This position will report directly to the HESQ Manager at the Houston site.  This position will also interface with continuous improvement, SMART & OPEX resources, though there is no indirect reporting structure.

 

JOB DIMENSIONS

  • HESQ – This position requires the holder to consider HESQ impact on all aspects of continuous improvement (i.e., documentation using eMOC where appropriate, integration of HESQ benefit into project scope when possible, etc.).
  • AIMS/ISO – This position will serve as champion for the overall AIMS/ISO processes to ensure completion of required activities through individual owners of the quality, safety, environmental, etc. components of the system. The Management Systems Lead will ensure completion of MSR and lead preparation of internal & external audits.
  • SMART - This position will lead Lean (SMART) and Six Sigma / DMAIC activities.
  • Continuous Improvement Culture – This position ultimately seeks to establish a culture of continuous improvement for the Houston site. This mission includes closer linkage of AIMS to existing programs, leading the implementation of new Lean methodologies including Arkema’s SMART process, and support of programs requiring a Six-Sigma or DMAIC approach. The end result of these activities is creation of an engaged culture where employees are continuously driving improvement at the appropriate organizational levels and leaders serve these efforts by removing barriers and enabling their teams to perform.

 


KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishing a vision, road-map, and execution plan for the cultural improvements described in 'Job Dimensions'
  • Provide reports and data to various departments within the plant, to corporate personnel and to external organizations as necessary.
  • Analysis of macro-level plant trends to determine areas of focus for continuous improvement.
  • Track and report on Action Items from AIMS audits.
  • Communication of AIMS scheduled activities and audit results to site personnel.
  • Conduct training for site personnel as it relates to AIMS and its implementation.
  • Conducting onsite audits of IT and or business systems, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and generating audit reports based on findings
  • Maintains and develops computerized audit software
  • Prepares audit finding memoranda and working papers to ensure that adequate documentation exists to support the completed audit and conclusions
  • Prepares and presents written and oral reports and other technical information in a pertinent, concise, and accurate manner for distribution to management.
  • Consults with and advises administrators, faculty, and staff on various operational issues related to computerized information systems, and on general business operations as needed.
  • Follows up on audit findings to ensure that management has taken corrective action(s).
  • Coordinates and interacts with external auditors, administrators, faculty, staff and law enforcement officials as appropriate; may be required to testify in court.
  • Assists and trains other audit staff in the use of computerized audit techniques, and in developing methods for review and analysis of computerized information systems.
  • Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  • Conduct operational, compliance, financial and investigative audits, as assigned
  • Establish, document, implement, maintain and continually improve the site’s ISO management systems 9001/14001/45001, in accordance with the requirements of this International Standard and determine how it will fulfil these  requirements.
  • Execution of scheduled ISO activities.
  • Conducting internal audits to meet the requirements of ISO 9001/14001/45001.
  • Coordination of onsite ISO Audits with corporate and the third-party auditors.
  • Track and report on Action Items from ISO audits.
  • Communication of ISO scheduled activities and audit results to site personnel.
  • Conduct training for site personnel as it relates to ISO and its implementation.
  • Performs general and application control reviews for simple to complex computer information systems.
  • Performs information control reviews to include system development standards, operating procedures, system security, programming controls, communication controls, backup and disaster recovery, and system maintenance.
  • Directs and/or performs reviews of internal control procedures and security for systems under development and/or enhancements to current systems.
  • Develop a vision and mission statement to create passion towards a successful SMART culture.
  • Oversee the site’s SMART implementation team.
  • Work with departments and NWTs to develop and strengthen their SMART processes.
  • Conduct training for site personnel as it relates to SMART and its implementation.
  • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of auditing concepts and principles.
  • Ability to evaluate and review a range of mainframe, PC, and distributed production and applications computer systems.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to perform control reviews on systems development, operation, programming, control, and security procedures and standards.
  • Ability to review system backup, disaster recovery and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to communicate with and understand the requirements of professional staff in area of specialty.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • Knowledge of software requirements for the auditing of computing systems and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computer systems development and programming.
  • Assist with audits of the site as it relates to PSM, Environmental, CFME, etc.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/WORK EXPERIENCE 

  • BS degree in HESQ, technical or engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing or process technology/development environment.
  • Proven ability to innovate and improve upon existing practices and technology.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong computer skills required. MS Office suite, SAP, ATLAS, etc. Ability to use analytical software to drive continuous improvement
