GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
To determine and implement EMI/ HEMP designs that meet cost/schedule objectives and customer requirements. Oversee the analysis, design, component selection, fabrication and installation of shielding, components and systems to satisfy the EMI/ EMP/ HEMP requirements for our mobile platforms.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Design mobile shelter based EMI/EMP/HEMP-hardened facilities/ systems.
- Develop designs, specifications, cost estimations and selection of shielding materials, penetrations, filters, etc.
- Specify fabrication methods to ensure effective shielding including:
- Material and component specifications
- Fabrication specifications and procedures
- Joint/ seam design and fabrication
- Penetrations and ancillary hardware for EMI/EMP/HEMP protected electrical, plumbing, sewer and mechanical services
- Unique welding specifications
- Specifications and designs for EMI/EMP/HEMP facility grounding
- Experience with the following specifications and standards:
- MIL-STD-188-125-1/2, "High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) Protection for Ground-Based C4I Facilities Performing Critical, Time Urgent Missions Part 1 Fixed Facilities"
- MIL-HDBK-419, "Grounding, Bonding, and Shielding for Electronic Equipments and Facilities"
- MIL-STD-461, "Requirements for the Control of Electromagnetic Interference Characteristic of Subsystems and Equipment"
- MIL-STD-464, "Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Requirements for Systems"
- National Electric Code, NEC
- IEEE 299, “IEEE Standard Method for Measuring the Effectiveness of Electromagnetic Shielding Enclosures”
- Create unique designs for Electromagnetic Interference/ Compatibility (EMI/ EMC), Nuclear and Lightning Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) and TEMPEST solutions.
- Support EMI/EMP/HEMP Verification Testing
- DOD experience
- MIL-HBK-423, High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) Protection for Fixed, and Transportable Ground-based C4I Facilities
- MIL-STD-2169, “Military Specification; High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) Environment”
- AWS D1.1/D1.1M:2006, Structural Welding Code - Steel
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards
- Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors
- Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary
- Ability to adhere to workplace rules
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 4 year college/university education in technical field, or equivalent experience required
- Desired experience: 8+ years professional engineering experience
- Prior Engineering project management experience
- Thorough knowledge of CAD design software programs/tools
- Thorough knowledge of EMI/ EMP/ HEMP design practices
