Technical Professionals Group provides validation, durability, mileage accumulation and quality testing services for vehicle and mechanized equipment projects and programs in the engineering, R&D, quality control and quality assurance sectors of the automotive industry.

What we are looking for:

Motivated, dependable, and safe CDL A Truck Driver to test pre-production heavy duty trucks. The ideal candidate will enjoy the opportunity to experience new technology firsthand and give feedback to the development team. Test heavy duty trucks in a wide range of testing conditions including engine and transmission, durability, vehicle noise, vibration, and brake testing. Testing occurs both on property and off property (locally).

Drivers are expected to safely operate the following vehicle types:

• Passenger cars and light trucks
• Heavy trucks (straight trucks and tractors)
• Buses and motor coaches
• Recreational vehicles (motor homes [class A], van chassis based [class C], travel trailers)
• Commercial trailers (e.g., van, flatbed, tank and container chassis)
• Military vehicles
• School buses
• Medium-duty commercial trucks (e.g., delivery trucks and ambulances)

Schedule

• First Shift 4:30pm-2:30am Monday- Friday

On grounds durability testing:

The durability test track consists of a variety of driver/vehicle stress inducing elements that subject testing drivers/vehicles to the types of events expected to be encountered during service. This includes, but is not limited to, driving on multiple road surfaces such as:

• Chatter
• Impact
• Cobblestone
• Undulating
• Resonance road surfaces
• High speed Oval
• Gravel
• Off-road surfaces

Drivers must be able to meet these physical demands:

• General pretest warm-ups
• Body/Chassis twist event
• hard braking (friction)
• maneuvering
• Driving in speeds more than 90 mph (straights)
• Driving in speeds no more than 80 mph (corners)
  • As a vehicle (driver) moves radially outward in the corners, it encounters a progressively steeper bank
• Other customer specific (required) testing procedures and protocols

Special Precautions:

When applicable, drivers may be required to wear/use:

• Competition Seat Belts
• Helmets
• Roll bars

Off grounds route testing:

From time to time, drivers will drive either off or on property at the discretion of management. Off grounds routes features a driving pattern (locally) through city traffic. Drivers may test a vehicle for:

• Stopping distance
• Vehicle velocity
• Pedal force
• Pedal Travel
• Hydraulic or airline pressure
• Brake torque
• Component acceleration
• Others, when applicable

Qualifications/Requirements:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• A current DOT Medical Examiners Card
  • must maintain compliance for DOT Medical Examiners Card
  • lapses are subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination
• A recent 10-year Motor Vehicle Record
  • Drivers must report, in a timely manner, all accidents (both at fault and no fault)
• Maintain a 98% attendance rate
• Current resume or complete 10-year employment history
• Must be willing to travel off-site (when applicable)
• A valid driver's license with a Class 'A' commercial endorsement
• Hold a Passenger (P) Endorsement
• Hold endorsements in double/triples, passenger and tanker or be willing to acquire those endorsements if required by the Customer
• Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends and possible overtime
• Must be able to safely maneuver and operate medium to heavyweight trucks
• Must have good vision, hearing, and motor skills
• Strong computer skills
• Must demonstrate familiarity with data acquisition systems and analysis devices (or possess aptitude to learn)
• Must be able to precisely follow map/route planning guidelines
• Must demonstrate ability to follow speed differentials within a specified margin of error
• Must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly both written and orally
• Must demonstrate good team skills and the ability to work with and learn from others
• Strong customer service and professional skills
• Willingness to assist and help in other areas as applicable
• Provide for safety at all times
